Salāmun alaykum, we pray that may the Almighty bless us to prepare well for the Holy month of Ramadan 1438 AH.

Allah azza wa-jall says: The month of Ramadan is one in which the Quran was sent down as guidance to mankind (Q 2:185). It has come in Hadith Sharif: For everything there is a spring (i.e. special season) and the spring of the Quran is the month of Ramadan. Quranic scholars also say that other Heavenly books such as Suhuf of Nabī Ibrahim, Tawrāt and Zabur were also revealed in Ramadan.

Celebrating that seasonal spirit a group of Muslim youths under the banner of Toronto Quran Exhibition (TQE) is organizing the first ever Exhibition in Canada of theEnglish Translations of the Quran. In the last six centuries, the Holy Quran has been translated into English for over 110 times by Muslims, non-Muslims and even byadversaries. Alhamdu lillāh, we have been able to curate over 50 translations into English for display and over 100 articles and reviews on the differences, challenges and biases in the rendering of the translations.

This Exhibition will inshāAllah bring Canadians of different religions, sects, ethnicities  and languages to start a conversation about the similarities as well as the causes of misunderstanding arising from inappropriate translations of ancient scripture. It will also attract the members of academic Community in the GTA who teach numerous courses on Islam and the Quran. Three of the local translators will give live presentations and answers questions from the floor.

Mulla Asghar Resource Center (MARC.), located in northern corner (Door No 4) of huge Jaffari Community Center (9000 Bathurst St, Thornhill, ON L4J 8A7) with ample of parking place, has kindly agreed to host the Exhibition. All visitors will also have access to the unique Roots of Abraham interfaith exhibition at MARC.  (See www.marecresource.org). The Academy for Learning Islam (A.L.I.) will finance the entire event and lend all its collections of English translations of the Quran to TQE.
